A novel enzyme cascade reaction to make ethylbenzene has been just accepted for publication in Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., see here. In this publication, we developed a non-natural three-enzyme cascade including an improved photodecarboxylase for the one-pot conversion of biobased L-phenylalanine into ethylbenzene with 82% conversion.
