In our just published article, we report on a "Sequence-Structure-Function-Evolution Strategy" applied to the discovery and engineering of novel bacterial chalcone isomerases. These enzymes are useful for the preparative scale synthesis of a range of (S)-flavanones in high yield and optical purity.
